Yesterday's forecast was for a cloudy day with no chance of sunshine. Instead, this. Rather than enjoying the unexpectedly lovely day, still some complain about 'rubbish meteorologists'. A positive mindframe won't solve every problem, but it allows you to spot the good moments. #GoodMorning, everyone

Dear Mr. McCotter,
I received your letter dated October 29, 2026. As a fully vote-by-mail state, our election has been well underway for weeks. More than one million Oregonians have already exercised their constitutional right to hold government accountable in free and fair American elections. We anticipate that when all ballots are cast and tallied, Oregon's turnout of eligible voters will be among the highest in the nation, yet again.
In Oregon, we take our responsibility to protect free and fair American elections seriously. We follow the law, the Oregon Constitution, and the Constitution of the United States of America. The federal government should do the same.
As secretaries of state across the country know, effective election administration requires professionalism, competency, and attention to detail. It is in that spirit that I will point out to you that my name is spelled R-E-A-D, as in "read the Constitution." Please update your contact information for me accordingly.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Tobias Read
Oregon Secretary of State
